Trying to get my ASUS TV FM tuner card to work last night. I took a shortcut to play around with cable while the machine is on.... I ended up fry one of my RAID HDD!

Damn! I should know better. NEVER EVER FUNDLE THINGS WHILE THE SYSTEM IS HOT.
At the end, I have to spend time swap the 2nd RAID disk into primary and boot it in non-redundancy mode. At least I learn how to recover a failed primary RAID.

- swap the secondary disk into primary
- boot into rescue mode from CD ("linux rescue" from prompt)
- make a temp directory (mkdir /mnt/a)
- mount / from the disk (mount /dev/hda1 /mnt/a)
- do a "chroot /mnt/a"
- run grub, run "root (hd0,0)" and "setup (hd0)"
- reboot and it should boot

Once I put a new HDD in the secondary and partition the disk, I resync the RAID by doing a "raidstart /dev/md0 /dev/hdb1" and watch the disks sync itself.

The remaining problem is I lost my LVM for /tmp, which I reconstruct.

- remove old phyical, logic volume and volume group
- add the physical volumes (pvcreate /dev/hda3; pvcreate /dev/hdb3)
- add the volume group (vgcreate lvm0 /dev/hda3 /dev/hdb3)
- activate the logical volume, do a "pvdisplay lvm0" to determine total PE, then "vgcreate -l [PE size] lvm0 -n lvm0"
- make filesystem on the new LVM (mke2fs /dev/lvm0/lvm0)
- mount the disk, set fstab (mount /dev/lvm0/lvm0 /tmp)

Even through I fixed the problem, it is still dangerous if a failure happen again next time. Maybe I should simplify the setup next time when I do a major re-install (maybe Fedora 4/5 timeframe....) ie get a big disk as /tmp. It's faster afterall.

On the other hand, I still have problem with the TV card. After hook up the monitor to the server, I can see the image on awtv or tvtime now. But sound card setup failed so no sound. I'm still not sure what I did wrong, since the correct driver seem to be detected. The same problem when I use the SBLive card. The problem I got seem to be /dev/dsp is not accessible.... need more debugging.
