Chinese IIIMFed to Type Myself Input

Posted by Admun  Tags: linux, chinese
Finally setup my Chinese input method with IIIMF-xcin on my laptop. So, now I can learn how to type Chines.... right (not! If you know me. haha).

It's rather easy to setup with only the input method without changing the locale:
1. mkdir ~/.xinput.d
2. ln -s /etc/X11/xinit/xinput.d/iiimf ~/.xinput.d/default
3. Add IM switcher applet in Gnome.
4. Enjoy (ctrl-space = on/off, ctrl-shift = method).

Laptop with Fedora Core 3

Posted by Admun  Tags: fedora, linux
Just install FC3 religiously on my laptop after it released this week. The istallation itself goes pretty smooth, except the media test failed for some reasons (but the CDs are not corrupted, or so it seems).

It mostly small improvements over FC2. The Wi-fi network setup works (with firmware installed at /lib/firmware), but the card setup is still a bit wierd since it's not detected until reboot.

There are a couple of problems:
- For some strange reason, I have a problem that the sound card is not initialized when GNOME starts. It turns out the mixer is muted, and I need to restore it from rc.local.
- APM is not working somehow, so I can't suspend the laptop... It turns out FC is using ACPI now, but I have some problem using ACPI to suspend the laptop..... need more investigation.
- Windows list and Window Switcher failed and didn't work sometimes.... The problem disappears after a while.....

p.s. still trying to setup with many popular RPM repositories. Setup with FreshRPM, ATrpms, Dries, NewRPM, and DAG repositories

Fixed RSS 2.0 feed URL bug when accessing from non-default category

Posted by Admun  Tags: nucleus
Yeah... it's a bug. The URL screwed up since I did a <a href="xml-rss2.php"> in the menu, which is relative and the wrong url prefix is appended when accessing it from other categories....
