04-05 End of Season Summary
The 04-05 snowboarding season finally come to the end after almost 4 months (Dec-Mar). It rained all afternoon and night last night, the snow is melting fast as the temperture is about zero most of the day. The ski school at Camp Fortune is closing for the season.
It had been a very good season for me, my riding improved a lot and have fun teaching programs and various private lessions. The weather been pretty good to me, too.
I took video clips on my first day this year at Northstar near Reno and last week in Camp Fortune to get some comparsion how much improvement I made this season.
before (~13MB) - skid on toe side, not enough extension/flex, too much sliding
after (~9MB) - inclination/angulation improved on both heel and toe side, wider range of body movement, basic craving on green
(sorry for the slow downlaod....)
Looking forward, I still have a lot to improve before I'm ready for Level 2. I'm going to work toward getting my level 2 by end of next season, let's see how far I go.
There are a list of objectives to work on next season:
- Advanced sliding turn, spray side/up the hill
- Carving in Blue/black, no spread
- Switch on blue
- half cap (frontside 180)
There are more advance techiques to master:
- more and earlier anticipation, continue through out the turn
- more steering with knee, early pivot
- gradual flexion/extension, reduce extension, increase flexion, pressure control + timing
- more inclination/angulation to allow biting to ice
