Watched Sin City with friends last night. I browsed wintervalley's post (not fully read... just hate to know the details before walking into movie) about it and thought hum, interesting. I don't know what I'm walking into.First off, it got way more violence than I thought. You think Kill Bill is bad, think again. I think it's 3x more violence graphically. :( The violent in Kill Bill is more the old school stuff in the 70/80's, with a lot of exaggeration and a bit cheesiness in it (i.e. stream of blood shooting out of neck? give me a break), and a lot of KungFu. In Sin City, it's just blood, guts, disguise, awfulness, and pain. It is glued together with a lot of exaggeration (it's comics, after all) and tune down silliness/cheesiness (the "rough").

I guess that's what makes it a outstanding movie (maybe not in a good way), it blends this violence into the story and to a point of glorifying the killing as raw and cruel as it is. That's sinful. The style of the movie certainly success in create the feel of a comics (the B&Wness) and the evilness of Sin city. It's a city filled with sin, right? But I was scratching my head a bit at first for what's the point with all these unreal ugliness on screen. I hope it's not just plain senseless violence... we don't need another one of those de-sense violent movie.

What I spot is a recurring theme in the characters; There is something that worth kill and die for, it's called love. I didn't realize until now while in front of my laptop that the thing worth to kill for is love. It's not just, it's not honer, it's not revenge. Love, the one you receive from someone and the one you give in return. May there be death at the end in return for the love you received. How stubborn, unconditional and ultimate.....

It certainly a very dark and evil movie, but it filled with love in a strange way.

Yeah, it's extremely violent. So it's a good thing with the color. But it's just different, very visually stunning. One thing though, I didn't think the girl who played becky really fit into the movie ... she looks innocent, but she can't act very well... :P

eh, not really about naked women. :P You can tell how brief I read it initialily (I re-read it afterward, through). In fact, I went with a female friend and I don't think that's a good reason to pick a movie with the present of women...

I guess they want someone looks kind of young and innocent, this sometimes translate into less than experienced acting? I dunno
