============ 9up start ==============

note: start writing this on Valentine's day, out of boredom.... you can tell I didn't celebrate it with anyone.

In response to the call, here's I come, spilling it.
-note to self,下次記着要找到至愛才做這事,以免spoil the moment...

02/26: Week 8 Snowboarding -
Monday night
- No one is here, so I just did some runs before heading home.
Thursday afternoon
- Able to escape from work early and did a few hours riding. I got some feedback about need more "quiet" upper body
Saturday
- Benoit is running the session again. We are working on timing and coordination. Focus on getting the rhythm with flexion and extension.
- Benoit points out my hands riding like a robot..... need to relax them
Sunday
- Benoit introduced us to down un-weight turn. We start on easy terrain, push out/extend to turn and flex/suck in legs to pivot. It's more of a sliding turn at this stage. Upper body should maintain almost static, with movement on legs. Anticipation is still happening as we turn. As we get more advanced, the pressure control should allow more snow control, with increase edge contact.

02/21: Week 7 Snowboarding -
Monday
- Richard goes over some information about level 2 Analysis and Improvement.
- This is mostly applied to intermediate program students that have learned beginner turns and trying to improve. The idea is to look at their riding and find one weakness to work on (or pick one of the 5 elements for each lesson). To give feedback, a direct method is used. 1) point out the problem/weakness 2) explain how to fix it 3) suggest a tactic to try 4) verify improvement after applies the tactic. This is a bit different from level 1 AI in the sense that we point out something good, then suggest a way to improve.
- We also spend some time working on timing and coordination. Richard points out I still have that 2 setting only stances (flex and extend), which I rapidly change between them. He suggests the counting-in-your-head tactic again, which help.
Saturday
- Benoit brought us to the steep terrain again, continue with more riding.
- Self diagnostic found my toe side is lacking angulation, maybe as a result of increased high back forward lean. Focus: 1) more cowboy stance 2) gain some speed 3) lean my knee (but keep back straight) on toe side turn 4) counting-in-the-head 5) change binding angle
Sunday
- Ezio did runs with us again..... in the cold. He seem to pick a cold day for session twice in a row.
- We are working on some craving related stuff. I basically bomb it entirely, mostly because of flex/extension.
- ez10 also talk a bit about hitting a race course. The focus is to make sure to turn before the gate, else it will be too late into the turn and potentially missing the next gate when we are unable to anticipate it.
Week 4
- Monday night Richard done some riding with me and Pat. We tried some craving, experiment with orllie, nose press, tail press, spin on snow (180 and 360), and 180 front-side hop
- Saturday, Benoit has us trying turns on steeper terrain (black diamond). The focus is to have flex and extension to allow pivoting happened on the steep slope. Speed control is done via wider turn and uniform shape. Speed = size+shape+slope
Week 5
- Monday is just too cold to go night session (even I was up there for 2 runs.....)
- Saturday, Norm gave another session on advanced sliding turn. The focus is on "twist the cap off a jar (with the knee)", it's almost like flexing the board torsionally to achieve earlier pivot (so snow spread upward or sideway)
- Sunday, Richard presents terrain adaption, stress on independent legs movement. One tactic is to traverse across moguls hitting the top and bottom of it. He also gave an introduction to wall-riding. The simplest way is to ride up and down on the same track. The trick is to make sure lay backward on the way up (to unload front foot), and lean forward on the way down (to unload back foot). The other way to look at it is you are ride up the wall normal and weight shifting to come down on switch. The other way is to up the wall, hop 180ish to come down on the same side, like what is done on a half-pipe.

02/02: Week 4 Snowboarding
Finally come back to Ottawa and start snowboarding. I get off the plane on Sunday and went up the hill on Monday night. Since I missed the first 2 weeks, this is really week 3 of snowboarding...
Monday night
- Norm gave us a progression on hop 180
- It is start with spin on the snow, both front-side and back-side
- Then do 180 hop on the front-side, the trick is to hop after into the turn. This is somewhat easier in that if you are unable to land 180, at least you are not catching the edge
- As we progress, should allow to hop earlier into the turn. At the end, hop on fall-line
- We also try out some ramp and the table
Saturday morning
- ez10 got us tried to do early edging
- One drill is to hop to change edge as we crossing the fall-line, instead of extend and pivot
Sunday morning
- Benoit continues on the theme of week: edging
- "lift up the heel" and "point up the toe"
- clock turn, pivot on high 11 o'clock
- sponsor turn, focus on increasing the edge angle
- water out of the boot, focus on (again) increase the edge angle to clear water out of the boots
- toe-2-toe turn to focus on one edge
